Day 01: Hanoi – village Vu Linh, Yen Bai (L, D)

Morning, you ride up to the North of the country by road. Enjoying the mountainous scenery through country and extensive farming lands comprising a sea of paddy fields split by tree-lined roads. Discover the daily life in the wild environment. Going up the small road beside Thac Ba Lake to Vu Linh commune, you will arrive at Mr. Ba’s house around noon. After lunch with family, you will visit the Vu Linh village, climb up the hill and discover its wild and diverse plants and trees. Keep walking up the hill and make a way into the jungle. Day 02: Vu Linh village – Nghia Lo (B, L, D)

Thac Ba Lake covers an area of 23,400 hectare, comprising 1,331 islands and hills with a diverse eco-system. Morning, enjoy a boat trip to discover the Lake. Jump into the clear water to wake yourself up. Say goodbye to your host, then drive to Nghia Lo, the second largest rice field in Northwest Vietnam and the homeland of Thai ethic people. Thai people first came here to grow rice and build their traditional wooden houses of iron and bamboo around 700 years ago. Take a short 2-hours walk around the village to discover Thai ethnic culture and daily life.

Day 03: Nghia Lo – Tu Le (B, L, D)

After breakfast prepared by host family, drive from Nghia Lo to Tu Le. The road follows the mountain of Hoang Lien Son and winds through the rice terraces. En route, you will start your hike and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Don’t forget to take photos on the way before reaching the village of Thai and H’mong ethnic minorities. People here are dressed in traditional costumes and will welcome you with open arms. The locals here still retain their traditional lifestyle, customs and habits so this is a good chance to learn more about their culture.

Day 04: Tu Le – Mu Cang Chai (B, L, D)

Continue to drive along the mountainous roads with spectacular scenery along the way. Stop at Nga Ba Kim for a short break, you will start walking until your reach villages of Thai and H’mong ethnic minorities. Stunning landscapes terraced rice field, mountains, clouds and wooden stilt houses, make up a heaven of peace and simple happiness. Be warmly welcomed by locals in their traditional costumes; see the H’mong woman working their looms and say hello to the passing children and you will find yourself drawn in by the land and the people here.

Day 05: Mu Cang Chai – Sapa (B, L)

After 02 hours driving, the road begins to climb up Tram Ton Pass, the highest pass in Vietnam at 2047 meters above sea level. Stop for photos opportunities and enjoy the fresh air. From here, you can see the Fanxipan Mountain “the rood of Indochina” with its 3143m peak soaked in clouds. Arrive in Sapa around noon, and visit the colorful ethnic market and Sapa old town with its remnants of the French colonial era. Afternoon, Enjoy the walking to the Lao Chai village (Black H’mong people) and the Zay village – Ta Van – where we ascend the mountain and cross a pass in the altitude of 1700 m. From here we have a magnificent view to the minority villages and terraced rice fields beneath us. The walk is about 12 km along the track that the Vietnamese used for fleeing, when the Chinese invaded Sa Pa in 1979

Day 06: Sapa – Ethnic market – Lao Cai – Hanoi (B, L)

Transfer early morning to Cao Son market (Wednesday morning market) or Can Cau market (Saturday morning market) or Muong Khuong market (Sunday morning market) or Lung Khau Nhin market (Thursday morning market) by car, arriving in time to enjoy the very colorful H’mong market in Northern Vietnam. This weekly outdoor gathering isn’t just a chance to buy and sell goods; it’s also the social highlight of the week for ethnic groups from all over the area. Afternoon, drive back to Hanoi

The trip to Mu Cang Chai to show you the most beautiful route in North Vietnam, a journey from Yen Bai to Sapa. It covers the least-visited, but most stunning destinations of the region, including Thac Ba, Nghia Lo, Mu Cang Chai, Sapa and colorful markets. You will enjoy a relaxing boat trip on Thac Ba Lake and a scenic hike to admire the picturesque settings of terraced rice fields in Nghia Lo, Mu Cang Chai and Sapa.
